The Internet Config system, created by Quinn ╥The Eskimo!╙ and Peter N Lewis, was developed to make the configuration of Macintosh Internet software more convenient and flexible. Many Internet programs use the same configuration information: for example the user╒s e-mail address, preferred text editor, and file suffix mappings. The Internet Config system makes it possible for these settings to be entered once, and used by any number of different programs. The result is less duplication of effort, and settings that are more likely to be up to date.
Fetch can optionally take advantage of the Internet Config system. If the Use Internet Config checkbox is checked in Preferences, Fetch uses Internet Config for the following settings:
You can edit all but the last two of these from within Fetch; Internet Config╒s suffix mappings and post-processing actions can only be edited with the Internet Config application (which Fetch will launch for you if you choose Suffix Mapping╔ or Post-Processing╔ from the Customize menu.
In addition, Fetch uses Internet Config╒s facilities for handling command-clicks on Uniform Resource Locators (URLs).
Internet Config is included with the standard Fetch software distribution, and it is recommended that you run the Internet Config application and install the Internet Config extension. If you have questions about Internet Config that are not answered by its user documentation please send e-mail to internet-config@share.com.
